Fletch creates content and messages that make people react. As a media heavyweight, creative strategist, branded entertainment expert, writer, DJ and verified taste maker, Fletch is above all else, a problem solver.
Whether the problem involves creating branded content that will close a $5 million deal or deciding which song to spin to make the dance floor go crazy, Fletch relies on the same way-out-of-the-box thinking to communicate with the masses.
In his current gig leading the digital division of Bender/Helper Impact’s NYC office, Fletch is creating online marketing and social media campaigns for some of the entertainment world’s biggest brands.
During 10 years at AOL, Fletch blazed a trail through middle management providing business strategy, creative leadership and content for some of AOL’s biggest initiatives including TMZ, EMMY-winning Live 8, Webby honoree AOL Vegas and the reinvigoration of aging local brands Digital City and City’s Best. As a creative nomad slash fixer, Fletch moved across the company five times during his tenure creating new businesses and concepts in Dallas, Chicago, DC, NYC and Vegas.
Fletch isn’t a “big company” guy but thrives in the corporate world by bringing his one-of-a-kind perspective to cubicle farms. His unique perspective and understanding of what everyday people want made him a hidden asset in the local digital space. Fletch’s biggest strength is marrying content and messaging. He has developed custom content – compelling for readers, smart for marketers – totaling $60 million in revenue.
Fletch also served as an AOL company spokesperson with appearances at conferences and in TV, radio and print.
But the Fletch story goes way back.
Winning a headline writing medal (yes, medal) in high school, Fletch has had the gift of messaging from an early age. The fact that he was an only child added fuel to the creative fire since he always had to entertain himself. When other kids were playing hopscotch, Fletch was playing “nightclub” setting up an 10-year old’s concept of a club and charging the neighborhood kids for soda and peanuts while playing records on his Fisher-Price Phonograph. His only regret at the time is that Fisher-Price didn’t make a ‘My First Mixer’ so it made DJing nearly impossible.
It’s similar experiences in his formative years that led Fletch to a life of nightlife. As creative director for a legendary nightclub in Dallas, he breathed new life into an aging brand and created some of the most well-known and successful radio ads, marketing campaigns and personal appearances that haven’t been matched since in any market.
It was also during this time that he became a sought-after DJ with residencies and fly-ins. The secret to his success then, as always, is his different point of view.
While most DJs play what they want to play, Fletch utilized music programming and crowd dynamics to increase sales and keep the audiences engaged.
In addition to writer, DJ and marketer, some of Fletch’s other creative talents include artist, poet, musician, comedian, performance artist, hack filmmaker and one of the elite living karaoke performers. His rendition of Tiffany’s version of “I Think We’re Alone Now” is truly special and been celebrated (and chastised) the world over.
When he’s not creating magic in one medium or another, Fletch spends his time managing the Bionic Thunder Donkeys – his fantasy football team.
